Shanice – Saving Forever For You

Shanice had a name synonymous with the 90′s, but her beautiful voice made her songs unforgettable.  Her singing, unfortunately, was very sporadic throughout her career which spans up to today. In the 90′s her songs were simple and fun. Shanice really was at the beginning of the pop music evolution, yet her songs will bring you back to a simpler time in our music world.

Despite the fact that Shanice had a few hits, like “I Love Your Smile” on her “Inner Child” album, and her song that forever made her a teen idol “Saving Forever For You” that debuted on America’s favorite drama, 90210, she only produced a few albums kind of making her a one hit wonder.  “Saving Forever For You” was featured on the 90210 soundtrack.

Shanice briefly went into the acting world as she made a few cameo appearances on TGIF’s hit ”Family Matters,” as Eddie Winslow’s girlfriend.  She played herself, not a made up character, who talked Eddie out of quitting school to become a singer and to follow through with his parents wishes for him to continue high school and college.  She mentioned herself, that she was pursuing a college career which shocked Eddie.  That piece on “Family Matters” was not just a cameo roll, it really spoke about her.  It had a deeper meaning, which told America, she loved to sing but it just wasn’t what she wanted to do.  She wished she had stayed in school and was dropping back in.  After that appearance, Shanice disappeared from the world of music for about three years when she resurfaced with a new look and a new sound with “21 Ways To Grow” in 1994.  She had another album self titled “Shanice” released 5 years later in 1999, and in the same year her ”Ultimate Collection” CD.  She again disappeared and has now resurfaced again in 2006 with another album ”Every Woman’s Dreams.”  Her ”Inner Child” album to me, defined Shanice and made her a house hold name.

Today, Shanice’s songs sing on.  I still love both her songs “I Love Your Smile” and ”Saving Forever For You.”  Her beautiful voice and her energetic personality live on.   Her new albums are not as popular as “Inner Child” maybe because of her long hiatus from the music scene before releasing something new, therefore causing people to forget her; but her “Inner Child” album is immortal and part of the pop evolution.
