Very insightful and respectfully done. I have always had a morbid curiosity in death, but after discovering mourning photos, especially from the Victorian era, my curiosity became more respectful and observant. As a collector of antiques and such, I also found myself studying the clothing and other items in the picture. Mostly, though, I study the face of the deceased person: youth, beauthy, pose, creep-factor, and such. I wonder what their life was like up to the point of their death, what caused their
death, and always what was their name.
Thank you for this article and I will definitely check out the museum's site.

Jeannie:

Pageants are totally alright... so long as the parents do not make the kids get dolled up like that every millisecond of the day. I totally agree- let kids be kids, but up to a point, the pageants are fine.

Good article. I for one thinks that beauty pageants for underage children (under 19) should be illegal. I think it's disgusting and the parents should be taken out back and beaten sense into them. Parents are responsible for directing their child to be the best they can be, nurture them so they can grow up as responsible adults. Pageants do not accomplish this. Children need to believe beauty is from within-- not based on their looks or how well they walk the catwalk. And how sad when parents force their dream onto their children to accomplish (regardless if it is sports, beauty etc). Please parents: children grow up too fast as it is.. let them be children for as long as they can!

Hannah, this will lead to problems later. Honestly, even girls who aren't in pageants are going through enough problems. How is a girl like that really ever going to feel beautiful? They're covered in make up. So far nobody has really taught them what real beauty is. :/ I find it sad.

I have a question, why don't yall call the police when people come up to yalls office threatening yall with guns, broken bottles, and other weapons. I'm a police officer and there's alot of repossession agencies around here in central Louisiana that call us up when stuff like that happens, they even call us when they're outnumbered and have trouble at some repos. What yall doing is just not smart its stupid and dumb. One of these days one of yall are going to end up dead mainly cause yall all think your fucking supermen. As a police officer I would just like to say be safe, and be smart, I respect what yall do. Hell one of yall actually repossessed a truck from a ex old girl of mine. That was funny.

These girls are too young to be worried about how they look. Let them be little girls! Beauty is not judged by how much makeup you can pack on your face, it's judged by the acts you put out into the world. Do good acts, you will be beautiful, do bad acts, and your not so beaututiful. It's as simple as that.

I’m glad you liked this movie, I definitely liked parts of it but I was really hoping that this would be a true prequel to the original Planet of the Apes movies. My boyfriend thinks differently and has a whole spiel on how each movie fits in with the concept, including the remake done by Tim Burton. I personally think that the newer films are more like the “Return to the Planet of the Apes” animated series. The cartoon episodes are free to watch on DISHonline.com, so we’ve been spending time watching them so I can prove to my boyfriend that they’re separate story lines and nothing more. I watch many movies since I work for DISH, and although there are some movies that work in sequential order, the Planet of the Apes series never had t o do this for their movies to be fun to watch.

Well, if this was that kind of magazine we would be happy to report on stuff like that. However, we are an art and entertainment magazine, and that is what we talk about. Sure these girls will be just fine, however, our courts will have to deal with them later in life for sure

I too have been wandering / wondering around this subject. Artists' best work tends to be done by age 40, or that used to be the case for whatever reasons. Whereas my parents largely put down that 'trivial' part of their lives when they had children and left it behind them, recent generations seem to have kept up more - music has more resonance and meaning in our lives. Why? I can't seem to quite accept that at age 46 I should be starting to make music, more 'adult' concerns should be taking up my time. This is a bit rambling, hope it makes sense.

I have come across what I think is and ink pen picture of the Fulton Mansion, in Rockport, Tx. It is signed by A Sundal. The picture was found in a garage in Gidding, TX. About all I have found on Mr. Sundal is in this web site. Just woundering if he came to Rockport and did the picture or if he may have done it off this web site. The second picture that come up is the one he recreated, with the two trees. There are three trees from a view that is farther out. If you would let me know if u know anything. Love the picture and is now in our house in Rockport. Thanks in advance.

Jason,

Yes, you failed to mention my 1st cousin, Raymond "Berry" Oakley, whom was very close with Duane Allman. Fact is, the Allman Brothers Band were artistically creative, like any other musical band; so, the environment of the cemetary gave them that "school of thought". As far as drinking & drugging, who really cares; that's a "mute" point ... ... the Road Goes on Forever ... !!!
